Weissenborns
Weissenborns are the orginal acoustic lap steel guitars originating from the 1920's. They were widely adopted for Hawaiian music but were superceded by the advent of resonator guitars for slide playing. They are now very much in vogue and tremendous fun to play. Featuring a hollow neck and no fretboard they can be built at moderate cost, depending, as ever, on the degree of ornamentation. The model below is made from English walnut with traditional checkered binding and has delightful character and sustain.
