Celtic bouzoukis
The zouk is another wonderful instrument adopted for playing Irish music! I make 4 and 5 course instruments with 24 3/4" scale fingerboards that should be familiar to guitar players. On the left is a 5 course zouk, that is tuned with octave courses laike a 12 string, with a figured maple neck and fingerboard and rosewood back and sides.
On the right is a koa version with a large body, soundport and angled neck to give a greater break angle over the bridge. The neck is figured sycamore with an ebony 'flying' fingerboard, reminiscent of archtop guitars to free the soundboard. THIS. IS. A. MONSTER! Huge gnarly sound and you'll be heard at sessions with this one.
Both these designs feature lattice bracing.
